Dr. Ifeatu Sandra Efu is a transformational post-secondary leader and ardent advocate for education as a catalyst for global economic development. As President and CEO of Canadore College, she brings extensive leadership experience across rural and northern communities, guided by her mission to “give the world the best of me by embracing challenges and pushing through boundaries.” Her approach is rooted in data-informed decision-making, strategic visioning, and a deep commitment to student success and community impact.

An accomplished academic, Dr. Efu holds a PhD in Higher Education: Research, Evaluation, and Enhancement from Lancaster University, a Master’s degree in Development Economics from Dalhousie University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics. She is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and continues to expand her leadership expertise through programs such as Harvard University’s Institute for Educational Management.

Dr. Efu’s professional journey spans Africa, the Americas, and the Caribbean, where she has contributed to education, community development, and economic empowerment initiatives. Following the 2010 Haiti earthquake, she supported relief and recovery efforts in vulnerable districts, and later coordinated development projects with organizations including the Inter-American Development Bank. She has also led global mobility initiatives for faculty and students in Belize, Honduras, Kenya, Trinidad and Tobago, and Vietnam.

A dedicated volunteer and community-builder, Dr. Efu is an avid sports enthusiast, a youth ministry volunteer, and Head Coach for girls’ soccer. Her multifaceted career and service reflect her unwavering commitment to education, community wellbeing, and global development.
