Advocate for racial equity and dismantling systemic inequalities.
The Global Alliance of Black Parliamentarians is a non-profit, multi-partisan unified platform for national and sub-national Black parliamentarians globally to promote the interests, well-being, and socio-economic development for people of African descent, advocate for Black communities’ rights and foster collaborative parliamentary action on a global scale.
In a democracy, parliamentarians are fundamentally obligated to represent the interests of all constituents within their specific electoral district. However, many parliamentarians also belong to broader communities that extend beyond their district and often assume an additional responsibility to champion these communities' interests and share common experiences with like-minded colleagues. Recognizing this dynamic, the GABP was established as a global platform to convene Black parliamentarians worldwide. Its purpose is to facilitate knowledge sharing, networking, and a collective commitment among members to leverage their full constitutional and statutory authority to attract investments, drive progress and development, and ensure that people of African descent in their communities have the opportunity to achieve their aspirations.
The Global Alliance of Black Parliamentarians (GABP) addresses legislative concerns impacting Black communities worldwide through the advocacy and pursuit of a policy agenda that includes, but is not limited to:
Membership into the GABP is by individual parliamentarian, rather than by national parliament or government, primarily because it leverages the individual's direct mandate and personal commitment to represent both their electoral district and the broader Black community.
This category is solely for serving Black parliamentarians.
REGISTERThis category is for past Black parliamentarians, Institutional partners, and individuals receiving Honorary Membership for significant contributions to the advancement of Black communities or the alliance's objectives.
This emphasizes that parliamentarian members inherently assume an "additional responsibility" to champion their communities' interests and share common experiences with like-minded colleagues, which speaks to a personal, rather than an institutional, motivation. This individual approach allows for a flexible global platform where members can freely share knowledge, network, and collectively commit to action regardless of the official stance or political changes within their specific national government, ensuring a more consistent and focused pursuit of the GABP's goals to drive progress and development for people of African descent.
